5. Since the submission of the 1998 questionnaire response, what

progress has been made relative to technical achievements or

advancements in support of spatial data infrastructure development

activities in your nation?

 

- During 1999 and 2000 we have purchased equipments and software of

  Intergraph Corp. to digitize existing maps in analog form and produce

  New maps in digital form

 

- Participation in the campaign of APRGP99 (5 GPS points) and APRGP2000

  (6 GPS points) organized by PCGIAP

 

- Organization of the 3rd Workshop of Working Group 1, PCGIAP in

  Ulaanbaatar from August 16-18, 2000

 

-Establishment of first Mongolian Permanent Reference Station in

  Ulaanbaatar in August 2000, this station receives both GPS and GLONASS

 

-Establishment of calibration laboratory, equipped with Sokkia

  equipments

 

-1997-1999 campaign for Mongolian GPS network. The final computation of

  Mongolian GPS network will be available by the end of 2000. The results

  Are com[puted and processed in collaboration with the Swedish Swedesurvey

 

- Participation in Global Mapping, classified as C level participant

 

- Discussion with NIMA for future cooperation in gravimetry and geoid

   model of Mongolia.

 

6. Since the 1998 response, what progress has been made relative to

policy, legal or organizational advancements in support of spatial

data infrastructure development activities in your nation?

 

In December of 1999, the Law of Cadastral survey and Land Cadsatre

has been approved by the Parliament of Mongolia. Thus established the base

for the cadastral system development in Mongolia.

 

7. What would you say is the most pressing current challenge for

spatial data infrastructure developments in your nation?

 

The current challenge for spatial data infrastructure developments is

lack of financing. During the Donor countries meeting in Mongolia, we

did not succeed to obtain financial support for development of NSDI. We are

planning to raise this issue again during the next meeting to be held in

Paris.
