progress has been made relative to technical achievements or

advancements in support of spatial data infrastructure development

activities in your nation?

  • realization of a central geobasisdata service center at BKG (Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy)

  • realization of central geodata service center (ingeoforum, terramapserver)

  • development of state geodata service centers in several states (e.g. gdi NRW)

  • realization of state geobasisdata websites and mis´s at the nma´s

  • development of a concept for a central federal mis für official geodata (by IMAGI)

  • development of a concept for a central federal geodata mis (by DDGI)

  • development of a quality model for geodata certification (by DDGI) and realization of geodata certification (by GZGI by order of DDGI)

6. Since the 1998 response, what progress has been made relative to

policy, legal or organizational advancements in support of spatial

data infrastructure development activities in your nation?

see above (nr. 5); especially

  • a central geobasisdata service (including a common price policy, joining together of the geobasisdata of all states to get homogeneous data etc.)

  • to get a better solution for geodata (also official geobasisdata) publicity, value adding and delivery in Germany(based on co-operation between data owner and companies being experts in marketing, data delivery and value adding)

  • to get a uniform geodata description within an nationwide geodata mis (exactly one description model), an uniform valuation based on that description and as result an official uniform geodata certification to get a better transparency on the German geodata market

  • to get homogeneous geobasisdata from the states and a homogeneous pricing and reasonable prices (= freedom of information) for these official data

  • to get more economic procedures for updating activities because of co-operation between (public and private) geodata owner

  • to get more support from the political level (relative to freedom of information etc.)
