Regions with Multiple Parts
Geographic objects are frequently thought of as regions with multiple disconnected
parts
- A nation (or other administrative/political formation) that consists
of the main land and islands or other separations (U.S., Greece, Turkey;
Michigan, Maine, Hawaii)
- Several buildings making up a unit (Campus, airport)
Through generalization, the composition of such regions with separations
may change.
Goal: To assess when the topological relations in two scenes of
regions with separations are topologically consistent or not.
Result: An algorithm
to assess topological equivalence for regions with holes.
