Consistency in Geographic Databases
A particularly difficult problem for geographic databases, because it requires
comprehensive formalisms for spatial information. Such formalisms must match
with human thinking ("Naive Geography").
Many years of research in representing consistently geographic data within
one level of detail:
- topological data models
- data transfer standards (SDTS, VPF)
State of the Art: Consistent geographic databases with single representations
Goal: Geographic databases with multiple spatial representations
covering the same geographic area at different levels of detail.
