About Me

Lisa was born and raised in mid-coast Maine and received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from Bowdoin College which enabled her to make lots of money as an Actuarial Analyst for several years. Growing tired of wearing grey suits on a daily basis, she headed out to the other coast to study Natural Language Processing at the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology. After writing one paper which required her to analyze the Nixon Watergate tapes transcripts as an example of multiparty discourse she decided to switch her focus to domain specific language design. After obtaining a master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, she returned to the right coast where she taught Math and Computer Science at various Colleges in Maine. While this was lots of fun she missed research so she decided to start work on a PhD in Spatial Information Science and Engineering under the benign guidance of Dr. Michael Worboys.
