Kraig was born and raised in Caribou, a small town in northern Maine, and
graduated from Caribou high school during the spring of 1995. He completed
one year of Mechanical engineering at the University of Maine before switching
to the Computer Science program. In the fall of 2000 Kraig graduated with his
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maine. During
the last year of his undergrad degree he also started working for GE Energy
who is still his current employer. After a short time off, Kraig returned to
the University of Maine in the fall of 2005 to pursue his Masters degree in
Spatial Engineering and Information Systems which was completed in the fall of
2007. He is now working towards his PhD in Spatial Engineering and Information
Systems and is an IGERT fellow in the Sensor Science and Informatics program.
