*** Current Research Interests ***

My research interests mainly concentrate on Spatial Cognition and GIS ontology. There are generally three approaches: psychological, computational and mathematical approach.

I am personally interested in the first two items. Mathematics can act perfectly when building a model, whereas the real world is full of error and uncertainty. To get practical solutions I intend to concentrate more on human issues and the implementation of human factors into geo-info systems.

What I plan to develop in the future are the skills related to human spatial cognition and their migration into information systems or AI. As a student with certain programming experiences and GI software applications, I realize it is important to discover what is important and what is practical for computers to deal with the geo-space. Or in other words, we study human beings in order to enable better geographical understandings for computers. It is crucial for geographical information science because this purpose distinguishes us from general psychology or computer science.
