Event Discovery and Classification from Space-Timeseries: a Case Study for Storms’

Sensors mounted on buoys in the Gulf of Maine Ocean Observation System have facilitated collection of unprecedented oceanic and atmospheric data. Experimental tests on long held empirical knowledge in these fields is now possible, providing valuable insights.

The objectives of this project are to explore methods for the integration of heterogeneous sensor data streams.  Our integration approach is based on abstracting "events" from time series. Events represent an abstraction over sensor data streams into units with some common property, representing change.
