The Atlantic Institute was formed in 1989 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Presidents of Laval University, Canada, the University of Maine, USA and the University of New Brunswick, Canada and has continued in operation since that time. While the participating academic programs at these institutions go by different names, all are focused on advancing the tools and techniques of spatial technologies. A primary past and ongoing activity has been the exchange of research ideas and experiences among graduate students and faculty at the three institutions.

The mission of the Atlantic Institute is to encourage easy and intelligent use of spatial information and technologies to help foster equitable, sustainable economic growth and improve peace and security throughout the world.

Please browse through the links to the left for further information and opportunities to join with us in support of common goals and objectives.

Sincerely,

Harlan Onsrud, Atlantic Institute Chair
